Life is merely a fraction of a second. An infinitely small amount of time to fulfill our desires, our dreams, our passions. —Paul Gauguin

    I said, that's everybody's biggest worry -

然后他又说,我不快乐, 不如以前快乐, 已经很久了 sth is missing in my life

他说过的最有意思的一句话是: life is just moments -

    Superman, we need you (ZT)

If u care about the world , you can always do sth!

pls don't let the spirit go__

When I was in college, I wanted to work for The Daily Planet.

After all, there’s never a shortage of news in Metropolis — there’s always one evil genius or another trying to either take over or destroy the city. It’s as if every day there is armageddon. You never have to worry about a slow news day, since Metropolis is in a perpetual state of peril.

But the people of Metropolis can always be sure of one thing — time and again, someone will be there to rescue them.

Their hero, good ol’ Superman, one of the most recognizable pop culture icons of the 20th century, is always there to save them. And this week is no exception.

“Superman Returns” is hitting theaters nationwide at a time when, here in the real world, we need an escape from the bad news that seems to saturate newspapers and news networks every day.

The evidence of our need to be rescued is all right there on the front page.

We are fighting a war that, according to polls, many Americans see as pointless and futile. We are hunting evil cowards who continue to elude our military forces and are hiding out in caves. Untrustworthy, corrupt politicians who commit heinous crimes get away with little more than a slap on the hand. Others are building nuclear weapons that could destroy entire civilizations with the push of a button. Tsunamis and hurricanes are laying to waste great cities around the world. Those large cities that remain standing are overrun with violence, drugs and other crises.

And so we look anywhere we can to forget about the world’s problems — many of us place our faith in a higher power and pray to God — the ultimate superhero — for salvation. Others find solace in more worldly sources, such as movies — especially ones that make the impossible, possible.

I’ve never been a comic book fan — I believe Superman is popular among comic book afficionados and non-fans alike because, in essence, he is good. He fights for truth and justice. He fights evil because it is the right thing to do, unlike his comic book counterparts, many of whom fight to avenge a loved one’s death, or simply because they’re angry and angst-ridden. It’s refreshing, that’s for sure.

Who among us can say we don’t feel warm and fuzzy all over when we see Superman swoop down to save Lois Lane as she falls from the roof of the Daily Planet building? Or when Superman pulls a school bus full of children from the edge of a bridge? Or when Superman turns back time itself, all to save his true love from death?

In the real world, the problems the world faces are complex, and the solutions to them are seemingly out of our grasp.

In Metropolis, however, when faced with evil or danger, one need only to look up to the sky.

The world Superman inhabits offers us an escape from the problems and issues of a society that seems to be decaying in front of our very eyes. In his world, things are black or white, good or evil, virtuous or sinister. The dichotomy is simple and almost comforting.

And, although it is mere fantasy, the character of Superman allows us for one moment to believe in a world where, unlike our own, absolute good is always triumphant over the power of evil.

On June 28, sit back and allow yourself that fantasy and help me welcome Superman back to a world that needs him now more than ever.
